Distribution and Habitat
Breeds in Pechura Mountains west of the Ural Mountains to Lake Baikal, the Okhotsk Sea, Kolima Stream, Ussuri, Amur, Central Asia, North India, Northwest China, Western Mongolia. Winters in Pakistan, India, Indochina and Malay Peninsula. Winter in China, South China and Taiwan. It is a migratory bird that passes through Korea in spring and autumn.
Behavior
They usually sit at the edge of the forest and fly around among the leaves and eat insects. Acts alone.
During the spring and autumn season the piercing call of “tseeweest” rarely can be heard.
Characteristic
Similar to Pallars Leaf Warbler. The head center line is unclear. The upper body is greenish gray, and the head is slightly darker than the back. The eyebrow line in front of eyes is yellow, and the back of eyes is narrow and white. Two yellowish-white wing lines on the wings are prominent. The third wing edge is narrow and white. Dark brown spots are clearly visible when the wings are folded, the large wing cover (base of second wing) is dark brown. The light part of the lower beak is narrow.
Similar species
Hume’ s Leaf Warbler(P. humei): There is a lot of gray on the upper body. The line of the middle wing covert is blurred. The light color of the base of the lower beak is narrow. The yellow color of the eyebrows is lighter. Ear coverts are pale. The legs are different. It is considered asa subspecies or a separate species of Yellow-browed Warbler.
Two-barred Greenish Warbler: The wings have two bars. Similar to yellow browed warbler, but there are no dark brown spots on the second wing covert edges, and the wings are uniform in color.
